On the occasion of the holiday weekend for Colombia’s Independence Day, which is commemorated this July 20, Kayak revealed which national destinations attract the most interest from Colombian travelers.
The analysis also identified the cities with the most affordable airfares and those that show the largest drops in average flight prices compared to the previous year.
The most searched national destinations for the holiday weekend
Kayak’s study shows that the Caribbean region is established as one of the main options for those planning to travel during the holiday weekend. In particular, Cartagena and San Andrés are among the destinations with the highest growth in flight searches compared to the same period last year.
According to the travel search engine, Cartagena recorded an increase of 24 percent in searches, while San Andrés showed a rise of 19 percent.
The ranking of the five most searched national destinations, along with the average round-trip economy class flight price, is as follows:
- Cartagena, Bolívar: $357,004.
- Santa Marta, Magdalena: $388,248.
- San Andrés and Providencia: $598,575.
- Bogotá: $288,777.
- Medellín, Antioquia: $294,638.
The destinations with the most affordable flights
In addition to analyzing travel preferences, Kayak evaluated which cities offer the lowest average prices on domestic flights for this season.
The report notes that the three main cities in the country occupy the top spots among the most affordable destinations to travel during the holiday weekend.
The list of the five national destinations with the lowest average round-trip economy class flight prices for 2026 is as follows:
- Bogotá: $288,777.
- Medellín, Antioquia: $294,638.
- Cali, Valle del Cauca: $328,530.
- Cartagena, Bolívar: $357,004.
- Cúcuta, Norte de Santander: $378,205.
Cities with the largest reductions in airfares
The analysis also found that some destinations show decreases in the average flight price compared to the previous year, representing additional savings opportunities for travelers.
The largest drops recorded correspond to:
- Cúcuta: -19 percent.
- Bucaramanga: -17 percent.
- San Andrés: -12 percent.
- Armenia: -7 percent.
Alejandro Lombana, commercial director of Kayak for Latin America, explained that the results highlight the diversity of preferences among Colombians during one of the busiest tourist seasons of the year.
“During a holiday period like Independence Day, it is particularly interesting to observe the variety of destinations that spark the interest of Colombian travelers. The data shows searches for major cities such as Bogotá, Medellín, and Cali, as well as beach destinations and Caribbean cities, including Cartagena and San Andrés,” he stated.
The executive added that “this variety reflects the diversity of regions, cultures, and experiences that Colombia offers travelers.”
