Testimony of the partner of the security guard murdered at the TransMilenio station in Soacha

Natalia expressed her deep sorrow over the loss of her partner while they were working. Through tears, the woman said everything happened just as they returned from their breakfast break.
“We settled in and I was at the turnstile putting on my helmet,” she recalled.
At that moment, two individuals appeared on the south side of the Terreros station and within seconds, the alleged perpetrator “grabbed the victim’s foot” and “tried to make him fall from the station”.
During the confrontation, the guard put on her helmet and “ran to help her partner” and confronted the man’s partner about the “aggressive” reaction against Cristian David Garzón Castro.
It was then that the guard noticed that, allegedly, the attacker was “under the influence of psychoactive substances” and the “other woman continued inciting the fight“. It is worth noting that investigations are ongoing to determine the condition of the alleged perpetrators.
Natalia told Caracol Radio that together with her partner Cristian Garzón, they tried to pressure them so users would not evade their responsibility to pay for transportation and, within seconds, “saw the attacker reach into his chest” to pull out the knife.
“I pushed my partner backward, but not hard enough and the stab was meant for me, my partner stepped in“, she detailed with a choked voice.

It was moments of confusion and despair, as the guard realized that Cristian David only thought of saving her from the attack and kept faith intact that he would be okay.
“I only saw that Cristian thought of me because I wasn’t even thinking about my daughter waiting for me at home, but my partner stepped in like that without thinking twice (…) The worst part is that when I went back to check on him, he smiled and told me that ‘everything was fine'”, Natalia described to the mentioned media.
However, the anguish worsened when the partner saw the wound the 27-year-old had on his chest. She tried to help him with what she had at hand, but Cristian David Garzón was fading more and more every second.
“When the vest was pulled aside, I saw a hole in the vest and desperately started removing all the protective gear and the uniform (…) Cristian just kept staring at me with a scared look and fainted in my arms“, she said.
According to the Police, the victim “was able to be transported to a medical center”, where later the medical staff “reported his death due to the severity of the injuries sustained”.
