A barber, two unemployed men, and a high school graduate were detained this Monday, July 20, by the Bogotá Metropolitan Police, after they were caught driving a vehicle in the exclusive TransMilenio lane, at the height of 45th Street with Avenida Caracas.
Earlier, the Bogotá Security Secretariat and the Metropolitan Police reported that they were handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for carrying or possessing firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition. And EL TIEMPO established not only their identities but also the records they have.
Prison entries
They all said they were not doing anything wrong. But the officers were struck by the fact that one of the detainees had several records.
He is Gerson Gutiérrez Amaris, 49 years old, originally from Valledupar, who was driving the vehicle. According to judicial records, he has cases for aggravated theft. In fact, in 2009, he had a sentence reduction for study and work.
According to a report from judicial authorities, Gutiérrez Amaris has 22 records: 15 for theft, 1 for violation of private property, another for falsification of a public document, and five for drug trafficking.
‘They were released’
The other detainee is Fabricio Ernesto Casanova, who has 7 records for theft and illegal possession of weapons.

Also on the list of detainees are Julio César Ospina Puentes, with three records: two for personal injuries and one for illegal possession of weapons. And the last is Jeferson José Carroz Laurens, who has a conviction and records for receiving stolen goods, theft, and illegal possession of firearms.
Informed sources say that their arrests were not even legalized: “The Prosecutor’s Office said there is no reason to bring them to a hearing. The weapon found was in the trunk. In fact, the vehicle was ordered to be returned. And their records were not even checked.”
They are all now free. And, apparently, only a traffic fine will be imposed.
