July 20, 2026 Parade: President-elect Abelardo De La Espriella gives speech at the start of the event in Medellín

This July 20th the traditional military and police parade of the Colombian Independence Day will take place. For the first time, the event will be held in the south of Bogotá, specifically in the locality of Ciudad Bolívar, and will pass through the neighborhoods Perdomo, Madelena, El Ensueño, Candelaria La Nueva, and Casa Linda.
The route will start at 10 a.m. on transversal 70C, at the traffic light located in front of the Gran Plaza El Ensueño Shopping Center, and will go up to carrera 23C, near the entrance of the Ciudad Bolívar Fire Station and the Casa Linda neighborhood. In total, 6,257 members of the Military Forces and the Police will parade.

    July 20th military parade in Medellín

    The mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, invited to the live broadcast of the July 20th Military Parade in the city.

    “Today we pay tribute to the men and women of our Public Force, who with honor, bravery, and love for Colombia protect our freedom and take care of all of us,” he wrote.

    The event began with the intervention of the president-elect Abelardo De La Espriella.

    Road closures for the July 20th parade have already started

    Road closures for the parade began at midnight. These are the points:

    ​-Boyacá Avenue slow lane north to south, from diagonal 52 south to carrera 24, from 00:00 to 4 p.m.

    -Gaitán Cortés Avenue between Boyacá Avenue and 68F South Street, in both directions, from midnight until 4 p.m.
