Road closures for the Civil Service Athletic Race on Sunday, August 23: alternate routes

This Sunday, August 23, 2026, the streets of the northern capital welcome thousands of athletes for the 5K and 10K Civil Service Athletic Race. 

In order to allow the technical setup of the structures and ensure the safety of the runners on the road, the District Mobility Secretariat authorized a series of total closures on key sections and enabled detours for drivers traveling through these city areas.

Traffic restrictions will begin gradually from 10:00 p.m. this Saturday, August 22 and will extend in some areas until after noon on Sunday. 

For this reason, traffic authorities have asked the public to plan their trips in advance, use alternate routes, and follow the signage provided during the sporting event.

The closures authorized by the Mobility Secretariat affect the west lane of Avenida Carrera Novena and roads adjacent to Parque El Country Comodoro, the central point of the event logistics. The restriction schedule will operate as follows:

The race route establishes the Parque El Country Comodoro as the start and finish point. Event signage will guide participants along the following route on the west side of the road:

The athletes will start jogging at Avenida Carrera Novena with Avenida Calle 134 on the west lane, heading south towards Diagonal 92. Upon reaching Calle 93, runners will make a U-turn heading north. From this point, the race returns along Diagonal 92 northbound to connect with Avenida Carrera Novena and finish the route at the facilities of Parque El Country Comodoro.

To mitigate vehicle impact near Parque El Country, Calle 134, and the Carrera Novena corridor, the District Mobility Secretariat has structured a traffic management plan with alternate routes:

Those traveling north to south on Avenida Carrera Novena during the setups should take Avenida Calle 134 westbound, make a U-turn eastbound at Carrera 11B, continue east on Avenida Calle 134, take Carrera 10 southbound, continue east on Calle 131A, and reconnect with Avenida Carrera Novena southbound.

For drivers traveling north to south on Avenida Carrera Novena, there is the option to detour via Avenida Calle 134 westbound, make a U-turn eastbound at Carrera 11B, take Avenida Calle 134 eastbound, and connect with Avenida Carrera 7 southbound.

For those traveling west to east on Avenida Calle 134, authorities recommend continuing east on this road to take Avenida Carrera 7 north or south.

If traffic is east to west on Avenida Calle 94 heading to Avenida NQS south, vehicles should take Carrera 19 north to connect with Avenida Calle 100 westbound.

Finally, users traveling north to south on Avenida Carrera 15 or east to west on Avenida Calle 100 to take Avenida Carrera Novena and Avenida NQS south should continue west on Avenida Calle 100 and seek the North Highway to head south in the city.
