Those returning to Bogotá this holiday Monday, July 20, should take into account that the regional pico y placa will be in effect, a measure with which the District Mobility Secretariat seeks to organize the entry of vehicles into the city during the holiday bridge return plan.
The restriction will operate between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m. on the nine road corridors accessing the capital. During the first four hours, between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., only private vehicles with license plates ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, and 8) will be allowed to enter. Subsequently, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., entry will be enabled only for vehicles with license plates ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, and 9).

The measure will be applied on the North Highway, South Highway, 13th Street Avenue, 80th Street Avenue, Seventh Avenue, Boyacá Avenue with the road to Llano, Suba-Cota road, La Calera road, and Choachí road, which concentrate a large part of the vehicle flow during return operations.
The District Mobility Secretariat called on drivers to plan their trips in advance and take into account the established schedules, in order to avoid setbacks and penalties for violating the restriction.
The authorities also emphasized the importance of respecting traffic rules, maintaining prudent speeds, checking the mechanical condition of vehicles beforehand, and driving patiently, especially at points where a higher influx of travelers is expected.
This holiday bridge coincides with the commemoration of Independence Day, so in Bogotá there will also be parades and official activities that will cause road closures and affect mobility in some parts of the city. Therefore, the authorities recommended checking available routes in advance and considering additional travel time.
With the regional pico y placa, the District seeks to stagger the entry of vehicles into the city, reduce congestion levels, and facilitate the work of traffic agencies during one of the busiest vehicle movement days of the year.
