The educational community of a school in the Kennedy locality remains awaiting developments in the investigation of the incident that occurred on the morning of this Wednesday, when a minor student was injured following an incident involving a firearm inside the institution.
While the authorities advance the investigations to determine how the weapon entered the school and what exactly happened, the mother of the teenager questioned the school’s security controls and expressed her concern about her daughter’s health condition.
“I don’t know what the surveillance system in the school is for if it’s not to check the backpacks. It is inconceivable that a student of that age brings a firearm into the school, putting the lives of all the students at risk,” said the woman, who also stated that her daughter remains under medical observation and that, after being injured, she said she could not feel her legs.

Regarding the minor’s condition, however, there is a difference between the information provided by the family and the official version. While the mother claimed that the teenager remains in serious health condition, the District Education Secretariat reported that the student was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where she is receiving medical care, and that, according to the most recent report known to the entity, she is out of danger.
Through a statement, the Education Secretariat explained that as soon as the incident was known, it activated the care route with the District Health Secretariat, the Colombian Institute of Family Welfare (ICBF), and the Child and Adolescent Police. It also indicated that it provides support both to the injured student and the other minor involved and their respective families.
The entity specified that the circumstances in which the incident occurred are under investigation by the competent authorities, who will be responsible for establishing accountability and clarifying how a firearm ended up inside an educational institution.
The Education Secretariat condemned the incident and reiterated its commitment to protecting girls, boys, and adolescents. Additionally, it called on families and society to strengthen the care of school environments as safe spaces for learning, coexistence, and the protection of students.
The district administration also reminded that, since this is a case involving minors, Colombian legislation requires the preferential protection of their rights, avoiding any form of revictimization and ensuring respect for their privacy during the investigation.
The authorities continue gathering evidence and testimonies to reconstruct what happened and determine the circumstances in which the weapon entered the educational institution.
