In the last few minutes, the Civil Aviation Authority reported the activation of a “contingency plan” due to a failure reported in the “screen display system of the Control Center (CGAC) of El Dorado International Airport”. EL TIEMPO learned that this situation has caused delays in flights coming from different cities to Bogotá, including from Medellín to the capital.
In different airlines, as this media was able to verify, passengers are informed that the alteration of itineraries is due to damage “in the radar sensors in Bogotá.” On social media, other users have reported that it is “radar failures,” affecting flights also arriving from the city of Bucaramanga, in Santander.

For its part, the entity responsible for controlling and regulating civil aviation in Colombia confirmed that on the afternoon of this Monday, August 31, what they call “intermittent failures” have occurred affecting the screen display sensors of the CGAC, this tool would allow air traffic controllers and operators to see in real time the position of the aircraft, radar data, and weather information.
