The list of those chosen by the De La Espriella Government to represent the State in the higher councils of public universities

The Ministry of Education issued Decree 1310 on August 25, 2026, through which the appointments of President Abelardo de La Espriella’s representatives to the higher councils of the country’s public universities are made.
With this decree, the appointments of the Petro government to these bodies are also terminated as of this date.
The presence of representatives of the National Government in the higher councils of public universities corresponds to the composition established by law for these university governing and management bodies.
In them, the State participates as guarantor of the public nature of the institutions and has voice and vote in decisions related to strategic, administrative, budgetary, and academic matters, within the principle of university autonomy enshrined in the Constitution.
In the case of national universities, the President of the Republic has representatives on these councils, who participate in decision-making along with the other members of the highest governing body of each institution.
