High sources from Casa de Nariño confirmed to EL TIEMPO that in recent hours several resignations of senior officials from the outgoing Gustavo Petro government have been recorded.
Although attention has focused on the resignation submitted this morning by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Edwin Palma, who will be replaced by the head of the National Hydrocarbons Agency (ANH), Pablo Yesid Fajardo; EL TIEMPO established that the resignation of the Minister of Housing, Helga Rivas, is also in process.
Protocolary or requested?
Sources within the Government told EL TIEMPO that in most cases these are protocolary resignations due to the change of administration, but at least two would have been directly requested by the President.
This newspaper investigated and established that Palma’s resignation has not yet been read or accepted and that in the cascade of resignations there are also several ambassadors, including Iván Velásquez, in the Vatican; and Daniel Prado Albarracín, in Belgium, who was also the President’s lawyer.
Also, that of the director of Dane, Piedad Urdinola.

The resignation of Iván Velásquez occurs at a time when the Attorney General’s Office and other authorities are investigating the alleged privileges to the ‘Gulf Clan’, while he served as Minister of Defense.
