In recent hours, a video circulated on social media generated controversy and rejection in Bogotá after a private car was seen going up a pedestrian bridge in the capital.
The images show how a blue Chevrolet Spark with license plates ZIX013 enters the structure located on Carrera 68 with Avenida El Dorado, in western Bogotá. The events occurred on July 20 during the independence celebration.
The owner
According to official records, the Spark owes more than 4 million pesos in fines and authorities are trying to locate the driver.
According to documents from the District Transit Secretariat, the infractions are for not obeying traffic signs or requirements from traffic agents, driving through restricted areas during prohibited hours, and using a vehicle for a service other than the authorized one.
EL TIEMPO had access to the history of the blue Spark, in which a man identified as Brayan Bernal Muñoz appears as the owner.
The owner’s version
This newspaper contacted Bernal Muñoz, who began by stating that he sold the Spark about 4 months ago.
“I sold it to a man named Edwar Figueredo who paid me 80 percent, and we didn’t complete the transfer because he still owed me the remaining 20 percent,” Bernal stated.
And he added: “I was not in the country, and when I saw the video, I called him to complain, and he told me he would take care of solving the issue. What he did is a savage act.”
He also stated that he would go to Bogotá Transit to prove he has nothing to do with the events: “I have the purchase-sale contract signed by Mr. Figueredo. I met him because we both ride bicycles, and I thought he was a responsible person.”
From accuser to accused
The person Bernal refers to is Edward Fabián Figueredo Corredor, who claimed to be the accuser and who published the initial video on social media.
In fact, it is Figueredo who has all the vehicle’s current fines.
The most recent, from last June 7, was imposed for invading the exclusive TransMilenio lane.
Figueredo presents himself on social media as a Pan American champion and national and Latin American BMX runner-up. And in recent hours, he has stated on his profile that he will not incriminate himself by saying who was driving the vehicle.

The fact is that the same bicycle that appears behind the blue Spark has been published on Figueredo Corredor’s official profile.
Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán asked for help through his social media to locate the driver: “Help us identify this savage behind the wheel who hid his car’s license plates to commit several infractions.”
And the Mobility Secretariat announced that they will summon the owner to appear for the case. And that three fines totaling almost 3 million pesos will be imposed.
