The Bogotá Aqueduct and Sewerage Company —EAAB— announced that it will suspend the water service in the western area of the capital, particularly affecting some parts of the Fontibón locality and some of the nearby municipalities.
The interruption will start at 5:00 p.m. this Wednesday, September 9 and will last for 12 hours. Water will be gradually restored in the morning hours of Thursday, September 10.
According to the Aqueduct, the cut is due to damage to a valve on the Avenida Ferrocarril Line, located at Avenida Calle 22 with Carrera 81B. Therefore, it is necessary to intervene in the network to repair it, shutting off the water flow to that area of the city and the neighboring municipalities that are supplied by the same line.

Where will the cut be?
In Bogotá, the affected area is located between Avenida Boyacá and the Bogotá River, and between Calle 22 and Calle 26, in the Fontibón locality. It also includes the municipalities of Funza, Madrid, and Mosquera, including the Planadas sector.
More than 60 neighborhoods will be without water service. Some of them are: Modelia, Capellanía, Versalles Fontibón, Puerta de Teja, Tierra Firme, San José de Fontibón, Torres de Modelia, El Dorado Airport, La Giralda, Santander, Altos de San Sebastián, Industrial de Construcción, La Esperanza, Camavieja, La Cabaña, among others.
Water truck service option
In response to the contingency, the Aqueduct will provide water trucks during the interruption to serve the population of these sectors. However, the company clarified that priority will be given to assistance to clinics, hospitals and places with high public attendance such as educational institutions, airports, and transport terminals.
For the public, the Acualínea 116 will be enabled in order to request water truck service for their homes or neighborhoods.
Meanwhile, the Bogotá Aqueduct asked for understanding and assured that it will carry out repair work as soon as possible to restore supply as soon as possible.
