Women’s Race in Bogotá: these are the closures, schedules, and road detours for this Sunday, September 6

Bogotá will have a series of road closures and detours this Sunday, September 6, due to the Women’s Race. The disruptions will be mainly concentrated around Simón Bolívar Park and in corridors in the west-central and northern parts of the city, including Carrera 60, Calle 53, Calle 44, and Avenida NQS.

The first restriction will begin as early as Saturday, September 5. From noon, the western lane of Carrera 60 between Avenida Calle 63 and Avenida Calle 53 will be completely closed. This section will remain closed until 4 p.m. on Sunday, making it the longest disruption planned for the event.

On Sunday, starting at 6 a.m., closures will begin on the rest of the route. Avenida Carrera 60 will have both lanes blocked between Avenida Calle 26 and Calle 53 until 9:30 a.m. On Avenida Calle 53, both lanes will also be closed between Carrera 60 and Carrera 66A, with a scheduled reopening at 9:20 a.m.

Calle 44, on both lanes and between Avenida Carrera 60 and Carrera 52, will remain closed between 6 and 9:30 a.m. On Avenida Calle 53, the south lane between Carrera 60 and Carrera 27 will be restricted until 9:40 a.m., while the north lane of the same section will remain closed until 11 a.m.

There will also be total closures from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Carrera 28 between Avenida Calle 53 and Calle 53B Bis; on the western lane of Transversal 28 between Calle 53B Bis and Diagonal 61C; and on both lanes of Calle 53B Bis between Avenida NQS and Transversal 28.

These restrictions will be joined by Diagonal 61C between Transversal 28 and Avenida Carrera 30, and the slow western lane of Avenida NQS between Diagonal 61C and Calle 93 Bis. Both sections will be fully closed from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The 21-kilometer race will start on the western lane of Avenida Carrera 60 and continue through corridors such as Calle 53, Calle 44, Carrera 52, Carrera 28, Transversal 28, and Diagonal 61C.

 It will then enter Avenida NQS, where participants will head north to the Calle 92 area, then return south and back to Carrera 60, where the race will finish.

The roads will be progressively reopened as the race advances, so some areas may regain traffic flow before the maximum scheduled time. The organization must ensure entry and exit for residents of the affected areas during the event, as well as the passage of emergency vehicles.

Drivers traveling on Avenida Carrera 60 north-south should take Avenida Calle 63 west and then Avenida Carrera 70, known as Avenida Rojas, south.

Those traveling on Avenida Calle 53 east-west will need to take Carrera 27 north, continue on Calle 53B east, and then use Avenida Carrera 24 south. From there, they should follow Avenida Calle 45 west, take Avenida NQS south, and then Avenida Calle 26 west.

For those traveling south-north on Avenida Carrera 68 who usually take Avenida Calle 53 east, the alternative will be to continue north on Carrera 68 and then enter Avenida Calle 63 east.

Users traveling south-north on Avenida Carrera 50 should take Avenida Calle 26 east and then Avenida NQS north.

Likewise, those traveling east-west on Avenida Calle 26 who intend to take Carrera 50 or Carrera 60 north should continue west on Calle 26 and then use Avenida Carrera 68 or Avenida Boyacá.

The changes will also affect the Avenida NQS area between Avenida Calle 63 and Calle 92. Vehicles traveling west on Calle 80 intending to take NQS south should continue west on Calle 80 and use Avenida Carrera 68 or Avenida Boyacá south.

Those traveling on Avenida Calle 72 who want to enter Avenida NQS south should use Avenida Carrera 68 or Avenida Boyacá as an alternative.

For drivers traveling on Avenida Calle 68 who intend to take NQS south, the detour will be via Avenida Carrera 60 southbound.

Users traveling west-east on Avenida Calle 63 who plan to take Carrera 60 or Carrera 50 south should continue east on Calle 63 and then take Avenida NQS south.

Another change will affect those traveling north-south on Avenida Carrera 24 who want to enter Avenida Calle 53 west. In this case, they should take Transversal 25 south, continue on Diagonal 53C east, return to Carrera 24 south, and finally take Avenida Calle 45 west.

Alternate routes to avoid affected areas will include Avenida NQS south-north, Avenida Carrera 68 south, Avenida Boyacá, and Avenida Rojas in both directions, as well as Calles 80, 72, 68, and 63 both east and west.

Special attention should be given by those who usually travel north-south on Avenida NQS between Calle 92 and Avenida Calle 63, as during the disruptions there will be no connection from this corridor to Avenidas Calle 80, Calle 72, and Calle 68.

The recommendation for those who need to travel through these areas is to plan their routes in advance. For attendees of the Women’s Race, it is advised to mainly use TransMilenio or SITP services and avoid, if possible, arriving by private vehicle. Bicycle use or walking is also recommended, and throughout the day, follow signage and instructions from traffic agents and event staff.
