The case of the Colombian ‘influencer’ Daneidy Barrera Rojas, better known as Epa Colombia, took a new turn after Abelardo De La Espriella ordered the transfer of the content creator from the Carabineros School in Bogotá to the Ibagué Prison and Penitentiary Complex, in one of the first decisions of his Government.
The measure became known after his inauguration last Friday, August 7. Among his first moves as head of state is also the transfer of 117 high-profile prisoners from the Itagüí prison to different maximum security centers in the country.

The judicial situation of Epa Colombia dates back to 2019, during the protests of the national strike under the government of former president Iván Duque. At that time, the ‘influencer’ posted videos in which she appeared vandalizing a TransMilenio station in Bogotá. For these acts, she was sentenced to more than five years in prison.
In mid-August 2025, Daneidy Barrera was incarcerated in El Buen Pastor prison. However, due to the mistreatment she allegedly received in that penitentiary center, her transfer to the Carabineros School in Bogotá was later made effective.
In light of the new measures by President Abelardo De La Espriella, ‘Noticias Caracol’ released a video minutes before Epa Colombia’s transfer to the women’s prison in Ibagué. The reason for the relocation would be alleged irregularities and privileges.
In the footage, the content creator appeared wearing a long-sleeved orange shirt and black sports pants.
“I leave this complaint about the persecution they do to me every day,” she mentioned in the video. In another segment, Epa Colombia added: “I feel minimized, discriminated against, and humiliated.”
A post was also shared from her official Instagram account. There, the businesswoman, known for her keratins, left a message following the measure ordered by the head of state.
“Today has simply been a difficult day, one of those that weigh on the soul and that only God fully knows. He (God) knows the truth, the hearts, and the true intentions. I only ask Him to give us strength, to protect us, and to allow all this to end soon. I trust that, in the end, the truth always finds its way,” she assured.
